Day 9 - Five in a Row!

When you're on a roll - you're on a roll.  When a teams starts putting wins together its sometimes hard to explain exactly why -- especially coming off a lengthy losing streak.  For Team Canada the special run they are on may be due to a change in focus from trying "not to lost" to "playing to win".

On this day this philosophy was on full display.  Coming off an impressive win against Russia the night before, Team Canada first faced Germany.

The Germans did their best to keep things close but ultimately Team Canada once again prevailed for a fourth straight win.  This brought their record back to ".500" at 4-4... and back in the middle of the standings.

With things clicking for Canada, we took our lunch break where the team was relaxed and comfortable.  We shared some chocolate hearts courtesy of Team Germany (Thank you!), and discussed the merits of controversial British Television shows, and what a "fully accessible/inclusive" version may look like.

The afternoon brought a head to head match up with our close rivals, and training partners, Team USA.  With the teams headed in different directions in the standings, this was a critical game with playoff implications on the line.  After a cautious beginning, both teams began to step up their game.  Fortunately for Canada, our Team was able to maintain this pace, outlasting the USA by a score of 7-3.

With this win in the books, Team Canada had clawed its way back to a 5-4 record.  By the end of the night Canada was sitting in a tie for 3rd in the Standings... a big turnaround from sitting at 11th just 2 days ago!

The evening brought rest, and the company of family, as Team Canada had earned an evening off.  We're back at it early tomorrow -- and wins are still needed to secure a playoff spot.  Two games to go in the round robin.  Estonia and the hometown Scots, with the outcomes shaping the final standings and Canada's medal hopes.  Stay Tuned!

*FYI - I understand the Semi-finals and Finals of the tournament will be streamed LIVE online, Saturday and Sunday.  More details to follow.
