Day 7 - Getting a "W"!!

With several days of competition in the books, Team Canada and their fans were itching for a win... And Team Canada delivered!

The team was playing two games -- afternoon and evening.  Thus, everyone had a restful morning in preparation of a couple big games against two very strong teams - the Swiss and China.

After several of us surviving a little Marmite taste test at breakfast (survived but we'll never forget -- my question to the Scots is why??), the team headed to the rink for game action.
Why Scotland Why?
The Swiss had been playing very well this entire tournament - and this day was no different.  Once again, an opponent put their best game on display against Canada.  For the 3rd of 4 matches the game came down to the last stone - and once again, unfortunately, we came away on the short end of a defeat.

Tensions were high as the evening brought a match up with China - the team that beat Canada at the Semi-finals of the last Paralympics on a miracle last rock at the end of a controversial game.  Needless to say, Canada was looking for payback -- as well as a critical first win.

What a game!  Finally Canada gained control of a game -- never trailing.  Overall, consistent play and good communication put us in position once again to win on the final stone of the match.  This time the "Curling Gods" smiled done on Canada and it was China tasting the bitter (perhaps "Marmite-like") taste of defeat.  Canada was on the board.

Needless to say Team Canada, and their fans were very happy with the victory!

At this point of the tournament the games normally start meaning more and more.  For Canada, each game has even more meaning.  That being said -- the focus of the team is narrowed down onto each game, each end, each stone - trying to put their best on display -- and let the outcomes work themselves out.
